Unfortunately the experience you pay for and look forward to just doesn’t exist in poor weather. The entire experience was extremely cold and wet, the animals were therefore pretty hidden. The indoor eating area had been reserved for red balloon or something but there were no staff to communicate this and I wasn’t able to see this stated anywhere online. This resulted in a lot of very cold and hungry people waiting outdoors for a while, only to be told we aren’t allowed in. Outdoor seating was available but it was just not appropriate given the weather. The kids area indoors was really warm and there were a couple of snakes to look at, but there was no information on the animals anywhere to be seen, and no staff to engage with. The name of the animal wasn’t even there for us to google and talk to the kids about. The music and drumming was okay but was scattered about the place and, as mentioned before, was too cold to stop and enjoy. The zookeepers did their best on the Safari to bring the animals closer with food, and I understand they have no control over the weather, but it was definitely not worth it for me. I would have happily donated to the rhinos and stayed home. It should be cancelled in poor weather. It was a birthday gift for someone and we all left cold, hungry and pretty disappointed. Didn’t feel like what was advertised at all and I don’t want to go back.

The bus driver was very knowledgeable and we got close to Rhino, Zebra and Eland, Due to the wet cold night the Giraffe were locked away (understandable). Otherwise - No organisation of the queue to get in, saw very little African entertainment. Once off the tour headed for the BBQ which was disappointing and expensive. Tasteless Boerwors in a huge roll. Tasteless Chicken skewer. Left to our own devices after the bus tour. Thought the extra we paid compared to daytime entry was not worth it. Much more crowded than we expected and no different to going in daytime.

Paid $79 per ticket x 2. Got a trip on the bus then left to own devices. Went to the Meerkat bistro to be told we could do takeaway (exorbitant prices) or eat outside in the cold as the bistro had been fully booked by a tour group. Thanks for nothing zoos Victoria, you need not think I will be donating my money to you in future. Very poor value and not much service. At least the animals were good.

My wife bought me this with Red Balloon. It also came with the three course meal at Meerkat Bistro. It was busy and a bit packed at times, however, well worth it. Lots animals to see up close and a roam around the zoo on foot after the bus tour. I would do the Red Balloon experience as it comes with the meal. Just a wonderful evening.

This was the 4th year we attended, having gone to the initial trial for the event. Totally understand due to Covid things needed to be done differently, however previous years, there has been drinks on arrival and a delicious African meal at the end, this year all that was offered was safari tour on bus and then left to wander around aimlessly. Food queues were long, food expensive and considering previous years we had meal for same $$ we spent. If you're going to reduce what is offered reduce how much ypu are charging. Very disappointing, unlikely to return in future years.

I loved it because it was my 5 year old girls dream to go to the zoo in the evening. Only thing I would say is that all you are really doing is standing in long queues for three hours. Outside of the standing in queues you are eating (rushing so you can get in the next queue) and on the safari bus. This is easily resolved by having more services and staff. Not unreasonable for the cost of tickets. Also horribly generalisation of the amazing Ghanian, Mali, and Zimbabwe musicians whom were brilliant but we can be specific about animals and their origin but just pigeon hole people as africans. It's 2021 guys.

Their wasn't really a highlight at all. It was very boring for a the hype they protest. You weren't allowed to see any animals besides on the truck which was so busy that if U were on the wrong side U missed out all together. They didn't spend anymore time then during the day infact I thought it was rushed to get all three groups in before it went dark. The food wasn't any different. In fact it was worse with next to no choices. It was very poorly done all the tables were reversed In The bistro so U didn't get to sit anywhere even tho the bistro was empty. The food like U went to a cheap diner but had to pay double. My advice don't do this and just go during the day. The staff made U go into a group to watch a guy that played for an hour at which point most people were walking away. The food took nearly 40mins to come. So many complaints. So many people upset.

We were gifted tickets for this experience, and being our first time at Werribee Open Range Zoo we weren't quite sure what to expect. It was a 'full house' with over 300 people attending. Once we were in and 'dotted' we had a welcome drink and some African music to start with. Our group then headed to the bus for the tour. I loved seeing the animals in the open, it was a wonderful experience. It was also great to see them moving about, as opposed to snoozing during the day. Our next stop was the show, which was great, but I was hoping to see some African dancing. By this time we were getting a bit hungry, and as soon as the show finished there was a 'stampede' for the dinner queue. This is where the night was a bit disappointing. We were toward the rear of the queue, and by the time we were served there was no entree left, no salad left, and we could only have one small piece of chicken. After asking, there was some more salad brought out, not really much given the number of people still to be served behind us. By the time we'd eaten the main, and went looking for the dessert, I was not surprised to see that there wasn't much of that either. All in all it was a worthwhile cause, and a lovely experience with the animals, and what food there was, was quite tasty.

We enjoyed it very much. The tour consists of four events, the first is a get-together, then music band, a meal which we thought was very good and then a trip on a bus looking at animals. Although I have often seen these animals before, for some reason they were much more real here partly as the tour guides at all time were very high quality.

I love the zoo! I’ve been to Werribee Zoo many times and always loved it - I was looking forward to this trip which a friend bought for me. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. The tour is the exact same as you get during the day as a visitor. The only difference, you get a person on your carriage explaining rather than the driver. They didn’t stop or spend any extra time then they would in the day. The food was sub-par and while the dancing was entertaining and fun, I would have preferred to spend less and enjoy the other animals at the zoo. Definitely disappointed.
